Security Enhancements:

As per the official Adobe Commerce DevDocs, the Magento 2.4.5 release includes 20 security fixes and platform security improvements. Even though Magento has worked on improving its security many times, the more the better. This version has some new deals on the security of Magento. Let’s have a look:

  • IP allow listing
  • two-factor authentication
  • use of a unique location rather than /admin
  • Google reCAPTCHA support has been added to the Wish List Sharing, Create New Customer Account and Gift Card forms.

  • The malicious code filter has been upgraded to use the HtmlPurifier library.

Adobe Commerce has upgraded the latest version of Magento with powerful improvements for Magento developers. Here are some of the platform enhancements in the latest release of Magento:

  • Support For Composer 2.2
  • Support For  TinyMCE (5.10.2).
  • Support For  jQueryUI (1.13.1)
  • DHL Integration schema has been updated from v6.0 to v6.2.
  • Almost 20 composer dependencies have been updated to the latest versions.

  • JS libs have been updated to the latest version in Magento 2.4.5.
  • Default Gateway URL for USPS shipping has been updated to use https instead of http.
Improved Accessibility:

The main focus of the release has been on creating a storefront experience on Venia Theme (PWA). These enhancements include:

  • Search results summary information is announced to screen reader users
  • Screen readers are now informed about the new page view loads
  • Improved Contrast and keyboard accessibility.

Magento 2.4.5 GraphQL performance enhancements include:

  •  Faster rebuilding of the unified storefront GraphQL schema on deployment, changing attributes in production, and faster page load speeds when the GraphQL schema must be rebuilt for any reason.
  • GraphQL API has Added the capability to consume the expiration date/time of the authorization token.
  • Session cookies are now launched in GraphQL operations 
  • Allows disabling the session cookies for all GraphQL operations completely.

In the latest release Magento 2.4.5, the team has added one new payment option i.e. “Apple Pay”.  The latest features of the payment enhancements in Magento 2.4.5 features are listed below:

  • Apple Pay is now available to all merchants
  • Pay Pal: 
    • Paypal later is available for the merchants in Italy and Spain.
  • Admin can now have the purview of PayPal, Credit and Pay Later.
  • Brain Tree:
    • Braintree has removed the KOUNT fraud protection integration.
    • The Always request 3DS option has been added to the Admin.
PWA Studio:

PWA Studio v.12.5.x is compatible with Magento 2.4.5.

  • PWA Studio storefront can now collect Shopper behaviour data for web analytics services. 
  • Merchants can now select a service to deploy from the Admin.
Magento has fixed 100+ issues in the core code.
Here is the list of some of the issues that are fixed in the Magento 2.4.5 release:
  • Now you can change the admin URL to a custom URL.
  • Path to Magento Analytics is no longer hard coded. 
  • Fixed issues related to Adobe Sign-Out
  • When the product subselect rule is applied, Magento calculates the cart total for a bundle product.
  • The full page cache is no longer shown as disabled in the admin.
  • Fixed the DOM errors that arise on the address search pop-ups on the billing step of the checkout workflow.
  • Permission exceptions are handled for restricted products which are added by SKU.
  • Shoppers with global account sharing are no longer asked to log in again to a secondary website.
  • Products set to Not Visible Individually no longer appear in catalog Advanced Search results.
  • Catalog rules are now correctly applied using incremental indexers.
  • Issue fixed in the Admin Action Log report.
  • Category rules that are used to assign products to categories no longer randomly change.
  • Admin can now change configurable product options in a shopper’s cart.
  • The correct product price for a configurable product with a selected option after changing its quantity on the product details page.
  • Configurable options are now linked to configurable products that are created in the Admin.
  • You can now re-order configurable products with optional custom options.
  • Magento now displays predefined EAV system attributes correctly according to the website setting on the storefront.
  • The system emails work completely fine with the email addresses containing “.-“.
  •  When a shopper enters an invalid email format while placing an order Magento displays an error message on the Shipping page.
  • Images on the product detail page no longer shift down and remain centred.
  • Magento now checks for a custom view before filtering columns when exporting reports.
  • Category ID attributes are now available in scheduled export filters.
  • Customer, customer address, and order actions are now logged correctly in the Admin action report.
  • Now customers will receive store-specific email addresses in the From field of the email.
  • Guest customer details are now saved after an order is edited.
  • Fixed logo-related issues in the storefront print order/invoice/credit memo pages.
  • You can now use search synonyms together with the Minimum Terms to Match parameter In Elasticsearch queries. 
  • Magento Open Source now displays an accurate search results suggestion count on the storefront if Search Suggestions and the Show Results Count for Each Suggestion setting are enabled.
  • Filtering products by colour in the layered navigation now works perfectly fine.
  • Virtual product prices are now excluded in the calculation table rate shipping amount. 
  • Table rate shipping rates with zero price are now displayed correctly.
  • The Fixed Product Tax (FPT) total for the order summary section is now calculated correctly.
  • Validation has been added to the store configuration page
  • Tier prices are now calculated correctly.
  • Taxes are now applied correctly for orders to any valid address in storefronts.
  • Search Synonyms now respect their assigned store scope. 
  • Problems with the Filipino (Philippines) locale have been resolved.
  • Lengthy product names in the Catalog > Products grid are now word-wrapped.
  • Admins can now set the current user’s expiration date higher than 2038 and save the user successfully.
  • when an administrator tries to save an address with excessive street lines Magento displays an informative error message.
  • You can now switch between store views when website restrictions are enabled.
  • Custom grid views are now saved during page reload and view changes.
  • A mutex has been implemented for orders to prevent race conditions.
